The weather was reasonable although it was still not very light by the time I started my run this morning. I decided, however, to wear a long sleeved shirt for the first time since before the summer and that made a significant difference to my comfort.

It looked as though I was going to be doing a standard 45 minute run mainly in the Balgownie playing fields until I met my gym running mate on the Parkway. He had started his run at the gym and was in the process of undertaking his standard 8 mile morning run. Normally he and I spend the winter on adjacent treadmills from 6.30am until 7.15am most mornings putting the world to rights. Our paths hadn't crossed, however, since the end of May and so the opportunity was taken for a mile or so to catch up with some news. At the bottom of Balgownie Road we parted company I and then manufactured a new route for myself which took me round the side of the River Don, through Grandholm Village, Balgownie playing fields and then home.

This welcome encounter seemed to enliven me and the run was not at all tiring.
