The Grassic Gibbon Centre is also located in the heart of the community of Arbuthnott in the Howe o' the Mearns just a few miles along the B967 from the A90.

As well as providing a wealth of information about Lewis Grassic Gibbon (the pen name for James Leslie Mitchell), the author of A Scots Quair, the Centre provides a quality stopping-off point for travellers wishing to have a coffee or a snack.

Lewis Grassic Gibbon is the the pen name for James Leslie Mitchell who was born in the Aberdeenshire croft of Hillside of Seggat in 1901. He died in1935.
