Have a look the video: What's the Point of School?: Rediscovering the Heart of Education. Claxton provides more 'hope' for the existing system than some commentators. It could, however, be argued that having produced an excellent analysis and an excellent book about the limitations of the existing system his strategy for moving forward shows too much conservatism.
